In early 2007, KTA Super Stores was the first supermarket in Hawai‘i to install and operate energy-producing photovoltaic (PV) systems at both our Waimea, Kamuela and Kailua-Kona locations.
In early 2013, we expanded our renewable energy program by installing a PV system our Keauhou, Kona and Waikoloa Village locations.
Environmental Benefits
As of November 2017, these photovoltaic systems have reduced emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2 ) by over 6,097 tons. This is equivalent to planting nearly 1,066 acres of trees or not driving 10,350,245 miles.
